Extra People Juniors Safeguarding Policy

 

Our Commitment:

Extra People Juniors is dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people (defined as those under 18) engaged in our activities, including filming, fittings, rehearsals, workshops, and castings. We prioritize the child’s welfare as paramount in all our decisions and actions. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment, free from harm and abuse, for every child, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, faith, or belief.

Key Principles:

  • Child-Centered Approach: The child's welfare is our primary concern.

  • Protection from Harm: All children have the right to protection from all forms of abuse.

  • Responsibility: Safeguarding is the responsibility of every adult involved with Extra People Juniors.

  • Safe Environment: We are committed to creating a safe environment for all participants.

  • Prompt Action: All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and addressed swiftly, in partnership with relevant authorities.

  • Prevention: We strive to prevent individuals with a history of relevant offenses from having contact with children.

  • Bullying Prevention: Bullying, in any form, is unacceptable and will be dealt with promptly.

Recruitment and Checks:

  • We adhere to responsible recruitment guidelines for tutors, chaperones, and volunteers.

  • We verify identification documents and chaperone licenses.

  • All staff regularly caring for, supervising, or in sole charge of children will provide an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.

  • We assess the relevance of information obtained through DBS checks in the best interests of children.

Welfare Officer:

  • We have appointed a Welfare Officer as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns.

  • The Welfare Officer is familiar with referral procedures.

Reporting Concerns:

  • If you have concerns about a child's welfare, report them immediately.

  • Contact the Extra People Juniors Welfare Officer:

  • For concerns about poor practice, the Welfare Officer will address the matter or seek appropriate guidance.

  • For serious concerns (possible child abuse), we will contact the Local Authority and then Police or Children’s Services.

  • In emergencies, seek immediate medical attention.

Data Protection:

  • We do not share photographs or personal information about children on social media or in the public domain.

Verification:

  • To verify Chaperone Licenses, DBS, First Aid Certificates and Insurance Policies, of Extra People Junior staff members, please email our Welfare Officer.

Policy Review:

  • This policy will be regularly reviewed and updated.
