A Digi-Fitting is a fitting you can do at home.
For a digi-fitting, instead of going to the production’s base for an in-person fitting, you'll receive a wardrobe brief and asked to submit photos of yourself in different outfits.
This saves the production time and money, while offering artists greater flexibility to fit at a time that suits them.
For the trouble, you will be paid a CAT A supplement (£22.17) which will be added onto the chit of your first filming day on that production.
Digi-Fitting Etiquette
Digi-Fittings must be full-length - we need to see your clearly from head to toe since shoes are part of the costume.
We’re not expecting professional photos; simply use your smartphone to take well-lit and in-focus pics.
If you have no-one to help you take pictures, prop your phone up and place a countdown timer on the camera.
Like Self-Tapes, Digi-Fittings become much easier if you own a phone tripod or ring light. This small business expense is a valuable tool in an SA’s arsenal that will improve your full-length pics overnight.
Avoid:
Standing too far from the camera
Editing photos
Mirror selfies
Dark environments
Taking pics of just the clothes
You must be wearing the outfits - Production need to see how they look on you.
There will only ever be 1 x CAT A supplement up for grabs, so be sure to get it right first time.
Please upload the photos in the correct destination as instructed.
Usually you’ll need to upload three different options to specific Photo Categories on your profile, such as “Project 1”, “Project 2” and “Project 3”.
If your photos are not where we expect them, we won’t have the time to go looking for them.
Artists have been previously released because they uploaded their photos to the wrong photo categories, to a different agency’s profile or attached the pictures at the bottom of an email chain.
Equally, we won’t enjoy chasing you beyond the Digi-Fitting deadline. If we sense that you’re dragging your feet, you could be released and replaced.
If you’re ever stumped by the Costume Brief, ask for clarification.
We never expect you to buy new items to fulfil a brief. Use what you already have in your wardrobe to match the brief as close as possible.
Artists that recycle old photos for their latest digi-fitting have been exposed by the photo timestamps and their costume clearly not matching the brief they’ve been given.
Digi-Fittings are well-paid for what they are; most costume briefs are simple enough to demand much less than an hour’s labour. And as Digi-Fittings become more common, artists will only become more efficient at completing them.
To earn the CAT A supplement, you must have been instructed to complete a Digi-Fitting for a booked role.
Please wait for the costume brief and only complete the Digi-Fitting AFTER you’ve been booked. At Extra People, your booking will never be conditional on you completing the digi-fitting first.
Digi-Fittings are only suitable for roles in which your own clothing will be used.
Even then, not all productions will do digi-fittings due to the budget, the demands of the scene and the preferences of the Costume Supervisor .
In-person fittings are still very much the norm for the majority of roles.
As such, you should not assume that a production will be able to Digi-Fit you if your availability for an ordinary fitting changes.
Since they’ve become common in recent years, we look forward to seeing the rules around Digi-Fittings be ratified in the next FAA/PACT and Equity/PACT Agreements.
