Merry Christmas from Extra People
To all our Clients and Supporting Artists,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
2023 was a tumultous year for everyone in our industry, with both the Writers Guild of America and The Screen Actors Guild going on strike at the same time - something that hadn’t happened since 1960.
With so many American productions filming in the UK, the Actors strike in particular resulted in more than 50% of our British Film & TV shutting down, with dozens more productions being delayed well into 2024.
Despite these difficulties, we were very proud to be busy booking our artists throughout this year, including during those 118 days of the Actors strike, as we worked on many of the remaining productions unimpeded by industrial action. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the patience and persistence of all our artists this year.
This year also marked the end of an era, with the release of the sixth and final season of Netflix’s The Crown. We have been working tirelessly on this series since the beginning, booking tens of thousands of artists over 8 years. Needless to say, this show has been a huge part of our working lives and we’d like to extend our thanks to all of those who worked with us to help make it the television goliath it was.
Before we turn our gaze to 2024, a few bits of housekeeping to consider:
Our Office will be closed over Christmas.
Extra People will be closing their offices for Christmas at 18:00 on Wednesday 20th December 2023.
We will reopen at 09:00 on Tuesday 2nd January 2024.
Those artists that are booked to film during the Christmas break will still be looked after by the booker handling their produciton.
If you have any outstanding issues, we encourage you to get in touch with the office before Wednesday 20th December - otherwise your issue will be dealt with when we reopen in the New Year.
Entertainment Partners will continue to process payroll during this Christmas period.
You can always check the status of all outstanding payments by clicking “Diary” on your profile.
We expect a return to normal levels of production in 2024 and we’ll be hitting the ground running in January.
That’s why it’s vital that your profile is updated over the Christmas period!
Use the following checklist as a guide to make the most out of your profile:
We need a full set of “Current Look” photos on your profile (Full Length, Front, Side & Back).
Only the Full Length needs to be full length. The others should be much closer to your face so we can clearly see your look.Professional Headshots, if you have them, are best suited for Main & Face slots. Recent selfies are to update your Current Look photos every couple of months.
Delete selfies older than a year (uniform/wardrobe pics can stay put).
Double check your contact information and address, especially your postcode.
We use postcodes to find artists living close to filming locations. If your postcode is wrong or missing, you’re invisible during our searches.
Review your body measurements - if you're missing any key measurements, you're invisible to our bookers looking for candidates for costume roles.
Men: Height, Chest, Waist, Trouser Waist, Inside Leg, Shoe.
Women: Height, Bust, Waist, Dress Size, Hip, Shoe.
Update your skills, qualifications and disciplines in the Casting Information tab and make sure they’re accurate.
You will also find a "Bio Box" here for you to detail your previous experience in the industry which may help us cast you in the future.
